Red Hill Water Contamination Lawsuit: Institutional Accountability

Representing military families harmed by the Pearl Harbor water crisis.

Brave People Sent a Message to the United States

Clean water is a national security issue. To maintain our position of readiness, we must protect our families and military communities from harm. We must provide safe housing and safe water.

The Red Hill water contamination is a catastrophic infrastructure failure and a profound betrayal of trust. Military family members continue to suffer because of the U.S. Navy’s institutional secrecy and a systematic failure to deliver honest medical care. This litigation led alongside co-counsel Hosoda Law Groupremains a cornerstone of our work representing military families exposed to toxic soil and water, shedding light on the gaslighting of families who drank poisoned water while officials assured them it was safe.

Military Families in Hawaii Say Water Tainted by Jet Fuel Made Them Sick | 60 Minutes | April 28, 2024

The U.S. Military was Negligent. The People Held Them Accountable.

The Red Hill investigation exposed a profound gap between official military statements and the biological reality of fuel ingestion. When thousands of residents reported water that smelled of fuel and caused physical distress, officials hid the truth. Instead of acting transparently, they prioritized operational optics over human health.

We stood with the families who refused to be silenced by this gaslighting. Our advocacy focused on the long-term medical consequences of fuel ingestion, including persistent neurological damage, systemic organ toxicity, and  chemical encephalopathy. The families we represented are the living evidence of a system that failed its most basic duty to protect the people who serve our country.

The Navy told sick families that they were not sick

More than 100 injured family members and civilians filed federal court claims against the U.S. Navy over the catastrophic contamination near the Red Hill fuel storage facility.

A Movement Born from Neglect and Secrecy

The Red Hill water contamination represents a profound betrayal of trust that highlighted a pattern of neglect and secrecy. While the active intake window for this case has closed, the movement for truth and accountability continues.

We cannot continue to poison families on American soil and then fail to warn them. The litigation established a reckoning. The legacy is the lasting change we demand for every military family.
